Mud, Movies, and Baseball

Our summer is continuing in full-swing.  One evening we decided to have a bike wash and the boys took full advantage of the resulting mud to "wash" their truck as well.

Our local theatre also does $1 kids' movies so last week we traded Gracen for our cute cousin Piper and we hit Charlotte's Web.  The kids were in awe of the theatre with its high ceilings, lights, and mirrors. (i.e. Check out Eli's face!)

Piper is not quite three yet so her and I took a few "walks" during the movie.  On one of them, we found this at the end of the hallway:

The boys are still semi-obsessed with Transformers.  They frequently transform and can only be referred to as "Optimus" or "Bumblebee."

We've also been enjoying a lot of the freebie tickets that the library's reading program is giving us.  Unfortunately, I don't always remember to take my camera.  But I did remember to take it when we got free tickets to the local baseball game! 

 Jaron had just gotten done driving to and from Kansas City in two days so he stayed home with Gracen so they could both go to bed early.  The boys absolutely loved the game.  Well, they absolutely loved being at the game anyway.

 I daresay that I liked going to the local team better than I like going to the Royals (our local team just happens to be a minor league team for the Royals, actually!).

For one, we were late for the game and we still only had to park 1 block away from the front entrance.  At the Royals, you sit in the nosebleed.  In Idaho, you sit right behind the batter.  Or right next to the team like Eli was when the catcher handed him a baseball.  We stuck it out until the bottom of the 8th inning when the home team was winning 10-1 - something that NEVER happens at the Royals! :-D

Laundry Funny

I've been doing laundry all day, washing it and hanging it out on the line to dry.  At one point I ran out of room before my basket was empty so I laid a towel in the grass and started piling dry laundry on top to make room on the line.  Alden and Eli were "helping" me and Alden asked if he could sit on my growing mountain of laundry.  I told him no and he asked why.  I said it was because I didn't want the laundry to get wrinkly.  He thought about that for a minute and then said,

"But mom, I don't have a wrinkly bum."

More Summer Fun

Oh, Summer.  How do I love thee?  Let me count the ways.

1. Every week we park a few blocks away from the library and ride our bikes there.  Poor little Gracen wishes sooo bad that she was big enough to ride a bike.

2. I don't care where you live - it looks better in the summer sunshine.

 3. I used to love amusement park rides.  Then I got too old to stomach them but it's nice timing 'cause my kids adore them more and more every year.

 4.  July 4th is so much fun - the parades, the barbecues, the fireworks.  In a week moment I considered taking all 3 of my youngin's to the 10PM fireworks.  The display here is the best I've ever seen anywhere.  But with Jaron working overnight Monday nights in Utah, I decided against it.  And thank goodness I did. 

 5. Swimming, swimming, and splash parks.  We can't get enough of water in the summer!

 6. We've gotten to spend a lot of time with cousins this summer.  It's probably the last summer ever that all of Jaron's siblings will live close enough to get together monthly for Sunday dinner.  We've been trying to include cousins in a lot of our outings and it's been a lot of fun.
