Happy 4th Birthday Alden!!

This week was Alden's 4th birthday!  I can't believe I have a 4 year old.  Crazy!!

We started off the festivities by letting Alden open his gifts from family before Jaron left for school.
Then, keeping up with traditions from my family, Alden got to choose what we ate for lunch.  Peanut butter, marshmallow and chocolate chip sandwiches.  Yum.  Eli ate the marshmallows and chocolate chips and left the bread and peanut butter behind.
Then, at supper, we celebrated with candles, cupcakes and "happy birthday."
We handed out invitations to Alden's party, which we held a few days later, when Daddy was done exams.
We started out the party by building rocketships out of Pringles cans.
The finished products:
Dillon and Shaliq inspected the presents from friends as Alden opened them.  It was really nice of Emma, Chloe, Logan and Cade to leave Alden presents even though they've all gone back to the States.
Next we enjoyed SNO CONES.
Then, Alden got the "happy birthday" song again!  The cake didn't turn out great - it was a little shorter and squatter than our trial-run cake the week before.  Also, it's tough to decorate a cake on an island where no one sells food coloring.  Did you know you can color frosting with kool-aid?
Next we took a swing at the awesome rocketship pinata that Mommy and Daddy made from a balloon.
Score!  Treat bags for everyone!

At 4 years old, Alden loves rocketships.  He loves being a big brother even more and I could not ask for a better firstborn.  Alden is a good kid and quite a smartie - he can't wait to go to school this Fall.  His favorite color is green and his favorite number has just changed from 3 to 4.  When he grows up, Alden wants to be a superhero.  Alden's best friend up until a week ago was Chloe.  Shaliq is quickly becoming Alden's new best friend.

On a sadder note, we said good-bye to the Keys family this morning.  We'll miss you Jonathan, Lucia and Harlow!  Have a great trip back to Canada.

Happy Birthday Alden! He's getting so big! My girls still talk about going down and seeing them in Colorado. Do you want to move back so they can play together? ;)
