Easter

Our Easter was pretty tame this year.  We didn't even have Easter dinner!

But we did start off the week doing a family night about the life, Atonement, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.  We asked the kids to think of their favorite story of Jesus and to draw a picture of it.  At first the kids couldn't think of one so we started telling a few of our favorite stories.  Then the kids surprised me by coming up with some stories that are not that commonly told.  

Eli wanted to draw the picture of when Jesus is teaching the people in a house and there are so many people surrounding the house that some friends of a sick man can't get to him. They break a hole into the roof of the house and lower the man down to Jesus and He heals the man.

Alden drew a picture of a man at the pool of healing waters.  The man was so lame that he couldn't get to the waters and Jesus came and healed him.  

This ended up being one of those Family Home Evenings where the kids were totally interested and involved and you realize that this is the reason we have family night each week.  The kids asked questions about the life of Jesus Christ so we watched the video Finding Faith in Christ, put out by our church.

We had fun dying Easter eggs.

 And then on Saturday we did our candy hunt.  We also did a hunt outside with the neighborhood kids but I didn't get any pictures of that.  I like to do the candy hunts on Saturday so that Sunday can be focused on the real reason for the holiday.

On another day, I got this idea from Pinterest to cover the table in shaving cream and let the kids drive cars through it.  It was fun...

 ...but after shaving cream got all over the kitchen floor, the living room carpet, the stairs, etc, I decided NEVER AGAIN. :)
