It is so strange to think that just one year ago all of our family's resources were committed to fighting for baby Reed's life in utero. I had gone to the OB for my routine 29 week checkup and the doctor found his heartbeat was hammering away at about 300 beats per minute, about twice the normal rate. An ultrasound revealed signs of heart failure so I was admitted to the hospital to receive medications and monitoring for both his heart and mine. It was such a scary time of uncertainty and sadness. We had a lot of ultrasounds during that time and these pictures were SO priceless to me, especially when we caught that little grin on the left there.
We didn't know then that Reed was a trooper would endure 12 days of his heart beating at 300 bpm after we caught it. When we were able to finally convert it using heart medications, his body recovered from the effects quickly and efficiently. While the condition was present at birth and he was on medication for a few months, he is now considered to have outgrown it. BLESSINGS!!
Sweet little Reed has brought so much joy to our family. He is such a pleasant and patient baby. He has a love of life unlike I've never seen in a baby. Our struggles in utero make him all that much more precious to us.
One day very recently, big sister tried to carry Reed while momma was in the bathroom. She dropped him against the rocking chair and above his eye was split open. Poor kid!
Reed's gonna be a talker like his mom. ;)
You might want to turn the sound down for this one. My cooing is a little embarrassing. But Reed seems to like it! :)
Reed used to make this noise that made strangers always think he was choking. The only thing I can figure is that he was just playing with his voice. Cute kid! SO glad to have him in our family!
