As Jaron said on the way to the ballpark,
"The great thing about living in a town with a bad baseball team is it's cheap to go watch them."
To celebrate Jaron's being home after spending 5 weeks in Atlanta for his pediatrics rotation, we decided to go see the Royals. We hadn't been to see them yet since moving back to the KC metro.
It helped that Jaron scored some tickets online for $6 each, all fees included. :)
We went early to score these sweet bobble-heads,
2 of which suffered severe damage by the end of the game.
The stands filled up pretty nicely. It was neat to see the renovated stadium. They've made a new kids' area back behind the giant screen which includes a playground, a splashpark, a carousel and a mini golf course.
Jaron and Alden actually enjoyed watching the game. The rest of us were there for the atmosphere and the snacks we brought along.
The Royals played the White Sox and it was fun that the Royals were actually winning the entire game. My favorite parts were when everybody in the stands got excited about a play and were cheering. The kids loved that. I think their favorite part was when someone hit a home run and a bunch of fireworks went off from behind the giant screen.
Since it was getting pretty late and Gracen had been asking to go to bed since the 2nd inning, we left after the 7th inning stretch and listened to the game on the way home.
The view of Kauffman stadium from our parking spot.
We'd have had a sweet parking spot if we'd been going to Arrowhead. :)

Love the family outing!
Becky, I laughed when I read your comment of "the van might as well be full" from the museum!
Only you would say that. I love your positive attitude. I love you - you're awesome!
