MATCHED!!

The matching process for residencies is a crazy process where a resident ranks the programs he interviews at and then the programs rank all their interviewees.  Then a middle man comes in and "matches" residents and programs that both want each other.  We found out on Monday that we had matched but they didn't tell us where.  Frankly, all I cared was that we were about to have a JOB!!

Friday finally came around and we found out that Jaron matched in his first choice, a program that does the first year in Boise and the second and third years in Twin Falls.  It is a small program where Jaron feels he'll be able to get excellent, well-rounded hands-on training.  We are really excited to be returning back to Idaho to be closer to both of our families!  I cannot believe that residency is upon us, we have worked SO HARD and have been blessed SO MUCH to get to this point!

I am so proud of my husband!!!!!!!

The tricky thing is, the program starts June 17th.  With a healthy baby due May 22nd, it was going to be a wild and crazy move.  Now that we are so uncertain of baby's future, it's really difficult to solidify plans.  We still aren't sure if baby will have to come early and then we're not sure what kind of care baby will need when he gets here.  It may be that he only needs a short stay in the NICU and then some managed medications.  But it's also possible that his stay in the NICU may extend awhile.  So...I guess we'll be making moving plans at the very last minute!

In other superventricular tachacardia news, baby seems to be doing well!  He's been "converted" for more than a day with about a 90% conversion rate over the last 18 hours or so.  The doctor came in and said that if this continues overnight I might be looking at being DISCHARGED tomorrow!!  Baby's and my care would continue as an outpatient on meds and coming in for ultrasounds and EKGs at least weekly.  A lot of baby's progrnosis will depend on if he's able to stay "converted" (with a low heart rate) and if his hydrops resolves itself well.  Thank you everybody for your prayers, I know they have been at work here!

I think you're living a parallel life with one of our friends. They matched with the same program and she was pregnant at the time due the beginning of May. Their baby came early and was in the NICU for a few weeks and they had figure out the whole moving thing. Here's hoping it ends easily for you all. So happy too hear that baby is doing well.
